Integration of Faith and Learning
Counseling Philosophy

My counseling philosophy is a sacred tapestry woven from the threads of my faith, learning experiences, and teaching beliefs. Within this mystical framework, Cognitive Development Theory, Conceptual Level Theory, Deliberate Psychological Development (DPD), and the integration of faith and learning new positive behaviors form the constellation that guides me.
As a Christian and counselor, my role transcends the boundaries of formal education. It is my divine calling to create an empathic and nurturing environment where clients can embark on a journey of holistic development, harmoniously blending faith and learning, critical thinking, creativity, collaborative risk-taking, and counselee empowerment.

Theoretical Framework

In the realm of human sciences, leading graduate and college-level courses is akin to guiding souls through a labyrinth of theories, fostering independent thought, and nurturing unconditional positive rapport. This mystical shift emphasizes the evolution of the psyche and cognition. Psychological because each individual embarks on a quest to discover their true essence, and cognitive, because within each person lies the latent power to develop their own thought processes and enrich their learning. Each soul possesses an inner voice, a sacred whisper that guides them towards what will and will not work in their lives. Thus, individuals may craft a plan of action attuned to the sacred callings of their hearts.

Humans possess a complex cognitive structure, akin to an ethereal web, capable of organizing vast volumes of information into a cohesive, integrated, differentiated, and meaningful explanation. This web of understanding enables them to solve their own dilemmas from within and as integral members of their society and culture. The learning journey is, at its core, an odyssey of self-direction and profound collaboration.

The first step in this enchanting journey is to recognize that humans have the divine capacity to create their own happiness. The one thing that we need to begin the healing process is bringing solace as we find a place to belong. Whether it be a spouse, children, parents, or friends, the essence of belonging is universal. In order to find and keep those people who embrace with the warmth of life, we need to recognize that imperfections and perfections are both intrinsic to human experience. No one is imperfect; rather, we all embody perfection through the tapestry of our imperfections.

The beauty of our imperfections lies in acknowledging them, allowing us to approach others’ flaws with leniency and compassion. As we delve into the imperfections of others, we may discover the wisdom to examine our own with love and tenderness.

In conclusion, formal education, philosophies, belief systems, and books do not define the entirety of our being. We are gifted with faith that fortifies our inner selves. This is the mystical tool that aids us in unearthing our idiosyncrasies, qualities, and faults. When in need of guidance, support, and an open ear, we should seek help, knowing that we may require a guide. In approaching a professional counselor, we must consider that their guidance can help clarify our path, as we are already equipped with what we need to continue our healing journey.
